TP 701 - Fails to recognize an external keyboard and/or Legacy Cards do not work properly when the system is on a Dock II
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
1- Thinkpad 701 (2630) installed into Dock-2 (3546) with the 701/Dock-2 adapter Interface Kit fails to recognize an external Keyboard on Boot.
2- Certain legacy cards (e.g., 3270 cards) not functioning properly when 701 is docked. Works fine when another machine is docked (755) or when application is in polling mode.
CAUSE:
1- Downlevel 701/Dock-2 adapter kit allows voltage fluctuations on keyboard lines at POST.
2- Older ISA pull IRQ lines to GND, then release to create interrupt. 701 pulls IRQs to GND, therefore no interrupt is created. Newer cards generally pull the IRQ line high and low.
RESOLUTION:
Replace the Dock-2 adapter kit with the current level FRU#42H1510.
