Question:
I enabled the Toll Saver feature of my Aptiva Communication Center and the phone rings longer than it used to. Why?
Answer:
To enable the Toll Saver, open the "Aptiva Communication Center" and run the "Operator". Inside the Operator, click on the
"SETTINGS" button. Click on "ANSWERING MACHINE". There is an option called TOLL SAVER which has a check box
next to it. If this option is checked, it will add 2 more rings to the number of rings that the Aptiva will wait before it answers the
phone. However, if there is a message in one of your mailboxes, it will answer the phone as specified by the "Number of Rings" setting. This is useful if you check your messages remotely. For example, you set the number of rings to 2 and turn on the Toll Saver. You go to work and at lunch time you phone home. You know if the phone rings 4 times that there are no messages and you can hang up. If the phone only rings 2 times, that must mean that someone left you a message. This feature is very nice with calling long distance as you can hang-up the phone after 3 rings knowing that there are no messages saving you the long distance connection toll.
