28.8/14.4 PCMCIA Data/Fax Modem w/Integrated DAA - BIOS upgrade required when installing 28.8 modem in Windows 95 OSR2 system

Applicable to: World-Wide

Problem:
Unable to install a 28.8Kbps modem with less than a 1.51 revision level in a system running Windows 95 OSR2.

Analysis:
The modem needs an upgrade level flash to be recognized in an OSR2 system. The flash cannot be done because the system does not recognize the modem.

Resolution:

  1. Insert the modem and envoke the modem wizard by doing the following:
  2. Select 'Standard 28.8 modem' as the modem type (OSR2 should assign a COM port to the device.)
  3. Run the flash on the modem.

The modem should now be enabled for use at 33.6Kbps.
