TrackPoint IV Keyboard - Installation Instructions

Applicable to: Australia, Canada, United States

The Trackpoint IV keyboard is a standard 104-key keyboard with a Trackpoint pointing device. Without drivers installed, the Trackpoint functions as the pointing device (like a standard mouse.) The two buttons below the space bar function as the æmouseÆ buttons. Installing the drivers (they are mouse drivers and an associated Trackpoint application) allows scrolling by depressing the shift key while moving the TrackPoint. The drivers also allow æpress to selectÆ. Pressing down on the Trackpoint is equivalent to a left mouse button click. Variations on these are available through the Trackpoint utility.

An external mouse (with PS/2 mini-din connector) can be optionally plugged into the back of the keyboard. The Trackpoint still functions when the mouse is plugged in.

Note: Press-to-select defaults to disabled.

Software Requirements:
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT v4.0 or OS/2 v4.0 are required for the scrolling, press-to-select, and magnification features. Only basic mouse and keyboard functions work with Windows, 3.1, OS/2 v3.0 and DOS v5.02 or greater.

Hardware Requirements:
IBM or IBM compatible desktop PC with a PS/2 (mini-din) style mouse and keyboard ports or IBM ThinkPad with IBM mouse/keyboard connector cable or IBM ThinkPad connected to a docking station or port replicator.

Compatibility/limitations:
Notebook PCs with internal tracking devices are not compatible. The keyboard allows the user to plug in a standard PS/2 mouse; however, the keyboard is not compatible with proprietary mouse drivers such as the IBM Scrollpoint, Logitech Mouseware, or Microsoft Intellimouse.
