IBM PS/2 - 9576/9577 Screen symptoms or system errors
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
The system is generating one or more of the following symptoms:
1. The display screen is Flashing, or exhibiting a "Checker Board" pattern. This will usually be seen in yellow but may also occur in any other colour.
2. Internal Processing Error
3. Trap Error
4. Kernal Panic Error
5. Any error that causes a "The system is Stopped" message to appear.
Problem Isolation Aids:
1. This tip applies only if the 9576 or 9577 is a Model xUx, xNx,or xTx and is running OS/2.
2. This tip applies only if the unit is a 9576i, 9576s, 9577i or 9577s.
3. A 118 Error does not occur after a reboot.
4. If a 118 error occurs during reboot, this tip does not apply.
Fix:
1. Review the units Hardware Configuration and remove any IRQ or DMA conflicts.
2. If no conflicts exist, and the problem continues, the customer should be advised to contact OS/2 Support at 1-800-992-4777 (US only) and refer to the Problem Determination Data Base (PDDB). EMEA customers should be directed to EMEA OS/2 support.
