Aptiva - How to install / uninstall Encarta 96
Applicable to: United States
To install Encarta 96 onto your Aptiva:
1. From the Windows 95 desktop, double click on the Aptiva Installer icon
2. Insert the Encarta 96 CD into the CD-ROM drive and wait for the drive light to go on and then off
3. Click on the "find install program" button if application was not installed previously or if installed previously, select "show uninstalled programs" tab.
4. Single click on the Microsoft Encarta 96 icon to highlight it and then click on install
5. Click on continue at the copyright warning screen
6. Type your name in the space provided and click on OK
7. Click on OK again to confirm your name
8. Write down the product id # and then click on OK again. This number is needed by Microsoft to receive technical support
9. In about 25 seconds, click OK to use the default installation folder
10. Choose the type of installation ( Faster execution recommended)
11. When installation is complete click on OK
Note:There is a readme.wri file on the Encarta CD which covers installation and contains troubleshooting tips.
To uninstall Encarta 96 from your Aptiva:
1. From the Windows 95 desktop, double click on Aptiva Installer
2. Insert the Encarta 96 CD into the CD-ROM drive and wait for the drive light to go on and then off
3. Click on the show installed programs button
4. Highlight the Encarta icon and then click on uninstall
5. Click on remove all previously installed components button
6. Click on yes, that you are sure
7. Click on restart windows to complete the setup
