Aptiva - 2144/2168 How to restore Mwave drivers on systems with Windows 95
Applicable to: World-Wide
Follow this procedure if you encounter a problem with your Mwave sound\modem card and need to reinstall the drivers. This procedure should be used only on Mxx and Axx series systems preloaded with Windows 95.
Note: Due to licensing concerns we may no longer use the pkunzip command to restore preloaded files. You must obtain the APTRSTOR.EXE file from the IBM Bulletin Board System ftp://ftp.infania.net/pccbbs/aptiva/aptrstor.exe . After executing APTRSTOR.EXE you must go to an "A:\" prompt, type "GO" and hit "Enter".

Restore Mwave system files by inserting the Aptiva Product Recovery CD-ROM and executing the following commands from the "C:\>" prompt:
ren c:\autoexec.bat c:\autoexec.ibm
restore autoexec.bat
ren c:\config.sys c:\config.ibm
restore config.sys
ren c:\windows\system.ini c:\windows\system.ibm
restore windows\system.ini
ren c:\windows\win.ini c:\windows\win.ibm
restore windows\win.ini
ren c:\windows\mwave.ini c:\windows\mwave.ibm
restore windows\mwave.ini
ren c:\windows\mwmwin.ini c:\windows\mwmwin.ibm
restore windows\mwmwin.ini
To get the autoexec.bat file to function properly, edit the file and remove all of the lines between:
REM == PISETUP Begin Delete ==
.
.
.
REM == PISETUP End Delete ==
Restore the MWave directories by opening an MSDOS prompt and entering the following commands:
cd \
restore mww\*.*
restore mwd\*.*
restore mwave_c\*.*
Remove the Aptiva Product Recovery CD-ROM and reboot the system. The Mwave drivers have now been restored.
