Aptiva - Removing IBM Antivirus from 2176 machines

Applicable to: AP-S

Use the following procedure to remove IBM AntiVirus from your Aptiva 2176 system.

1. Boot Windows 95 in Safe Mode.

2. Delete the C:\IBMAV95 directory.

3. Click on Start, then Run, then type SYSEDIT in the box and press Enter.

4. Edit the AUTOEXEC.BAT file and remove the line C:\IBMAV95\IBMAVSH /F00

5. Next, edit the WIN.INI file and remove the following command statement after RUN=
C:\IBMAV95\STARTTIM.PIF

6. Exit SYSEDIT and make sure the changes are saved.

7. Open Windows Explorer.

8. Delete the file IAVVXD1.VXD from the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS directory.

9. Restart Windows 95.

End of Procedure.

IBM AntiVirus 95 can be re-installed from the IMAGE directory on the Diagnostics CD.
