Aptiva - How to install / uninstall Prodigy
Applicable to: United States
To remove Prodigy from your Aptiva: 21xx-Mxx, Axx, Cxx, & 2159-S64 through S78 series with Windows 95:
1. Click on "Start", "Shutdown", choose the option to restart in MS-DOS mode, and click on "Yes"
2. At the C:\WINDOWS> prompt, type "CD\" then press "Enter".
3. At the C:\> prompt type DELTREE PRODIGY then press "Enter".
4. Answer yes to delete all subdirectories
5. Type EXIT <ENTER> to return to windows
To re-install Prodigy on your Aptiva: 21xx-Mxx, Axx, Cxx, & 2159-S64 through S78 series with Windows 95:
1. Download and run the file APTRSTOR.EXE available at the IBM WWW\FTP\BBS site's Aptiva file area, ftp://204.146.167.81/pub/pccbbs/aptiva/aptrstor.exe. Run the file to expand files to a floppy diskette, then at A: prompt type "go" to install "restore.exe" to your hard drive.
2. If at Windows desktop, click on "Start", "Shutdown", choose the option to "Restart in MS-DOS mode", and click on "Yes".
3. At the C:\WINDOWS> prompt type "CD\" then press "Enter".
4. Insert the maroon Aptiva Product Recovery CD into the CD-ROM drive and wait for the drive light to go on and then off.
5. At the C:\> prompt type "RESTORE PRODIGY\*.*" then press "Enter".
6. This will unzip all the Prodigy files onto your hard disk. When it is done, type "EXIT" then press "Enter" to return to Windows.
To re-install Prodigy on your 2159-S80, 2159-S90, 2136, 2137, 2140, 2142, 2161 & 2162 series Aptiva:
1. Click on "Start", "Run", then type "C:\progra~1\online~1\prodig~1\setup," then press "Enter".
2. Click "Next" at the next four screens.
3. After the files are installed, you have an option to run Prodigy or to exit without running Prodigy. Select one of these option then click "Next" to end the installation program.
To install or re-install Prodigy on OS2/Windows 3.1 systems:
1. Boot with Recovery disc one and proceed to Recovery disc two when instructed.
2. Select option #6, "OS/2 Prompt" and then press "Enter".
3. Insert Multimedia Exploration CD into CD-ROM drive.
4. At "A:\" prompt, type "D:" and then press "Enter".
5. Type "cd recovery" and then press "Enter".
6. At "D:\RECOVERY" type in lower-case, "unzip system prodigy\*.* -d c:\" and then press "Enter".
7. At next option type uppercase "A" to replace all files.
8. When screen activity stops, type 'exit' and then press "Enter".
9. Remove the CD and floppy diskette. Restart the computer.
