TP General - Windows 95 preload not seeing CNF CD-ROM
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
When the CNF CD-ROM is installed on the above ThinkPad Windows 95 Preload, one of the following happens:
1. CD-ROM shows up in Windows 95 Device Manager as a Hard Drive,
or
2. Device Manager shows CD-ROM in "not ready" state (Exclamation Point), PC Card Director reports a card in the slot, indicates "ready".
CONFIGURATION:
Any TP 365X/XD,560/E,760,765 running the preloaded Windows 95. Check the date on the file ibmcss01.vxd included with the Thinkpad Win95 preload. If the date is Jan 96, this file needs to be replaced.
SOLUTION:
Obtain the latest PCMCIA drivers. Please double-click here for the drivers: 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. CNF has also made a FIX available. You can obtain "95patch.zip" from CNF. This file, once uncompressed, contains 3 files:
ibmcss01.vxd
readme.wri
cnfchk.bat.
2. The following errata sheet from CNF explains how to install their fix.
"CARDport cd ERRATA Sheet - Effective June 6, 1996"
In order to Upgrade your Down-Level Card Services file "IBM CCSS01.vxd"*, proceed with the following instructions:
*(sic) this should be IBMCSS01.vxd, not IBM CCSS01.vxd}
1. Insert the CNF CARDport cd installation diskette into Drive a
2. From within Windows 95, select the START menu
3. Select RUN
4. Enter into the open box A:cnfchk.bat
5. Select OK
6. When the batch file has been completed, close the DOS box using the upper right hand CLOSE icon (x).
7. Shut Down and Restart the system if required. See directions on screen.
