Aptiva - 2144/2168 (SL-C) Updating the BIOS

BIOS stands for Basic Input/Output System. The BIOS is programming that controls the basic hardware operations. This includes interactions with diskette drives, fixed disk drives, and the keyboard. It cannot be modified.
The models listed below have what is called a FLASH BIOS. A FLASH BIOS is a BIOS that can be updated by a software update (provided by IBM ). This is opposed to having a BIOS chip that would have to be physically removed and replaced with another chip to be updated.
Currently, there is a BIOS update for the models listed below. The filename is P3FLASH.EXE. Instructions for installation and use are in the file description. To download the BIOS update, click here -
