PS/1 - Printing Text Files From DOS File System

While using the DOS File System, you may notice that the 'Print' option in the 'File' menu, is "greyed out". "Greyed out" indicates that the option cannot be used. The 'Print' command is grey because your DOS PRINT command has not yet been turned on.
Before selecting files to print, you need to first execute the PRINT.COM program. You can do this from the 'File System' by following these steps:
1. In the left panel, labelled "Directory Tree", click on the DOS directory.
2. In the right panel, move the scroll bar down far enough to see the file name, PRINT.COM. Click on PRINT.COM to highlight it and press [Enter].
3. You will see the "Open File" dialog box. Press [Enter] to run the program.
4. This will bring a "Name of list device [PRN]:" prompt. Press [Enter] again to accept the default entry of "PRN".
5. You will then see a "Print queue is empty" message.
6. Press [Enter] one more time to get back to the 'File System' screen.
Your Print command should now be invoked, and the 'Print' option under the 'File' menu should be usable. You can use the 'File' 'Print...' command to print a text file that you have selected in the 'File System'.
