Abstract:
NETFINITY 5500: RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS TESTS CAUSES HANG

SYMPTOM:
When USB is enabled, running diagnostics tests may cause the system to hang or lock up.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is a Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, any model.

- The system's BIOS level is one of the following:

v1.00 (44A)
v1.01 (46A)
v1.02 (53A)

- The system has the symptom described.

FIX:
Upgrade BIOS to revision 1.04 (59A). The BIOS flash diskette for revision 1.04 is available from the following website with the file name 36L9852.EXE:

http://www.pc.ibm.com/us/files.html

You must also upgrade the diagnostics to revision 1.02 (34A) or higher. The diagnostics flash diskettes for revision 1.02 are available from the same website with the names 01K7699.EXE and 01K7505.EXE.

Disconnect the mouse when running diagnostics tests while a USB keyboard is installed.
