Aptiva - 2144/2168 (SL-H) Considerations: Cyberia has popping sound in background

Applicable to: World-Wide

Situation:
In the introduction, Cyberia has a popping or crackling sound in the background.

Reason:
In an effort to improve Cyberia's performance in this environment, Interplay made some changes to Cyberia's cyb.exe file. This new version of cyb.exe showed an increased performance in a Warp DOS session but there were still some problems, the popping noise. Cyberia has since been changed to run in Trapdoor. Although this problem no longer exists, there is still a small problem with the sound quality.

The current cyb.exe was developed by Interplay to enhance the sound quality of Cyberia when run in Warp. Since Cyberia is running in the Trapdoor on the Warp side, there is no longer a need to use this updated version. Both cyb.exe files are on the CD, the original being in the root directory and the Warp enhanced version being in the OS2 directory.

Response to customer:
If the customer is experiencing the popping in Cyberia, have him or her copy cyb.exe from the CD root to the Cyberia subdirectory on his or her system.
