Aptiva - Hardware Handbook
Applicable to: World-Wide
Service Information:
There is a problem with the Hardware Handbooks for certain Aptiva models, regarding the instructions for 'Upgrading Video Memory':-
2144-743; -745; -754; -767; -768; -843.
2168-755.
In the section titled 'Upgrading Video Memory', the picture is incorrect. This shows the notch on the video random access memory (VRAM) socket facing the back of the planar (i.e. towards the keyboard connection) This illustration is incorrect.
All VRAM sockets on planars used in the listed models (in all countries) are designed with the notch facing the front the planar (i.e. the opposite end from the one with the keyboard connector). The notch on the module must also face the front of planar.
Note: The notches on the module and the socket must align. If they do not align the VRAM module will be destroyed.
