TP Dock II - Termination Errors
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
Termination errors are often caused by configuration problems. Use of an active terminator on the SCSI bus of the Dock-2 may also cause a termination error message. Notably, the Options by IBM Internal 4X SCSI CD-ROM drive is prone to causing this error message. It is a false error, as long as the controller is set to "AUTOMATIC" termination and the drive is set to be terminated (via jumper on the back of the drive). If these 2 conditions are met, the error is false and may be ignored. Should you wish to eliminate the error, you may do one of the following:
SOLUTION:
1. Install a PASSIVE inline terminator such as FRU 92F0142 (and disable the termination on the drive).
2. If there are more SCSI devices, you may rearrange the cabling so that a different device is on the end of the SCSI bus, and terminate that device instead of the CD-ROM (this may help if the other device features passive termination).
