Applicable to: World-Wide

Source: RETAIN tip H164734

SYMPTOM:
"ABEND-Page Fault Processor Exception"

- Failure commonly occurs during startup/shutdown of NetWare, but can also occur during runtime.

- Failure aggravated by use of applications such as Netfinity manager and remote ServeRAID admin.

- Failure does not occur when IBMSPN.NLM driver is not loaded.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is one of the following Netfinity servers:

Netfinity 5500 server, Type 8660, Model: 11U, 1RU, 41U, 42U, 4RU, 4SU, 51U, 52U, 5RU or 5SU.

Netfinity 5500 M10 server, Type 8661, Model: 11Y, 1RY, or 2RY.

- The system is configured with Novell NetWare ver. 4.1x.

FIX:
Install the latest version of driver for the service processor to eliminate ABEND condition. This driver is available on the IBM Web site or bulletin board.

Netfinity 5500 Advanced Systems Management Processor Device Driver Diskette version 1.02 (or later) 01K7543.EXE

The Novell patch LIBUPH.EXE, or a later version of CLIB, should be installed with this new version of driver. LIBUPH.EXE is available on the Novell web site at:
http://support.novell.com/misc/patlst.htm#nw411

WORKAROUND:
