IBM PC730/PC750 - Installing OS/2 2.1x on standard SCSI models
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
Cannot install OS/2 2.1x onto a PC 700 system having the factory fitted SCSI-2 card installed. This card is the Adaptec AHA-2940 SCSI-2 adapter.
Problem Isolation Aids:
OS/2 2.1x install hangs on #Installation/#Diskette 1. OS/2 Warp v3.0 installs fine. OS/2 2.1x currently does not identify PCI systems and handles them in the same way it would an ISA system. This can cause several different problems: trouble installing OS/2 2.1x and an inability to share a single interrupt between multiple PCI adapters.
Fix:
To fix this problem, install the device driver for Adaptec cards.
