TP 355,360,365X/XD,560,760,765,770 - How to disable/enable hibernation

Applicable to: World-Wide

When Hibernation is enabled, a hibernation file is present on the ThinkPad's hard drive that is approximately one megabyte larger than the installed RAM on the system. If you want to free this space up so that it can be used by other programs hibernation can be disabled and the file will automatically be deleted.

To Disable Hibernation:
1. Disable Hibernation via ThinkPad Features or by entering the following command at a DOS prompt:
PS2 HFILE DEL.
2. Using a text editor, add the characters "REM" at the beginning of the following line from the C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT file (if the line exists.) Example:
Change - C:\THINKPAD\PS2 HFILE C
To - REM C:\THINKPAD\PS2 HFILE C

To Re-Instate Hibernation file generation after completing the above:
1. Enable Hibernation via ThinkPad Features or by entering the following command at a DOS prompt:
PS2 HFILE C.
