TP 760ED - MMSYSTEM 266 Errors when trying to play MPEG video
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
An "MMSYSTEM 266" error occurs when trying to load the MPEG II Media Player to play a video clip.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 760ED running Windows 95 and trying to play a MPEG file.
SOLUTION:
This error message can be caused by exceeding the video mode resolution limitations for MPEG playback. Video capture/overlay/MPEG playback functions are not supported at the following resolutions:
- 1024 x 768 256 color 75Hz (in OS/2 Warp only)
- 1024 x 768 65,536 color 75Hz
- All 16 color modes
- All 1280 x 1024 modes (in OS/2 Warp only)
If you are not exceeding the above limitations, verify that you are using the Video Features Diskette for Windows 95 Version 1.10 or later. There is a correction on this diskette for the above error occurring when MPEG files are played at 1024x768 resolution and 65,536 color.
