TP 600 - Display setting changes to 800x600 256 colors after updating the video driver

SYMPTOM:
After installing or updating the video driver, the display setting get reset to 800x600 mode with 256 colors.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 600 running Windows 95.
SOLUTION:
To retain the display settings before updating or installing the video drivers, follow one of the three procedures outlined below:
1. Set the display setting
This procedure will set the desired resolution of your system during the video driver installation.
Edit MSBATCH.INF lines located under the [System] header and modify:
DisplChar=8,800,600
Monitor="Standard VGA 640x400"
to the desired settings:
DisplChar=16,1024,768
Monitor="Laptop Display Panel (1024x768)"
2. Comment out the display setting
This procedure will not change the current resolution during the video driver installation.
Edit MSBATCH.INF lines located under the [System] header and comment out:
DisplChar=8,800,600
Monitor="Standard VGA 640x400"
to
;DisplChar=8,800,600
;Monitor="Standard VGA 640x400"
3. Delete C:\WINDOWS\MSBATCH.INF
This procedure will not change the current resolution during the video driver installation.
