TP Dock I - Setting up the Internal CD-ROM

The following procedure is for installing the IBM 2X CD-ROM drive (PN 66G3536) in the Windows 3.1 Environment
Installation Process
1. With the Internal CD ROM Options Diskette in the "A" drive, type at the "A:" prompt "uinstall" and press enter.
2. Accept "A" as the source drive.
3. At the "C:" prompt type in the path of your choice and press enter.
Changes that should be made to the config.sys:
1. Make sure the line "Device=c:\(path)\IBMCDROM.SYS /D:IBMCD001" was installed from the CD ROM Options Diskette (this can be loaded high).
2. Add a lastdrive=Z statement.
3. Add the exclusion to the emm386.exe line "x=CA00-CBFF"'
*Even though this is the default memory range it can be changed via the SCSI controller's memory address setting switch. See page 5-5 in the Dock 1 Users Guide for more info.
Changes that should be made to the autoexec.bat:
1. Make sure the line "C:\(path)\MSCDEX /D:IBMCD001 /M:10" was installed from the CD ROM Options Diskette (this can be loaded high as well.)
Diagnostics
1. Boot to the Dock 1 Option Diskette
2. Choose "Diagnostics" from the Main Menu.
3. "Test SCSI Subsystem" will appear on the next screen--press enter.
4. The following screen gives the address of the SCSI devices installed-choose CD ROM and press enter.
5. The next screen gives description information about CD ROM-press enter to select.
6. Choose #1, Device Diagnostics, from the Test Options list and insert the test CD*'" when prompted to do so.
*"The test CD that ships with the CD ROM installation kit can only be used for this particular test.
To Allow the CD ROM to work as a double speed :
1. Copy FDCD.SYS from the Internal CD ROM Options Diskette to the path specified during the "uinstall" procedure described above.
2. Remark out the IBMCDROM.SYS driver in config.sys.
3. Add line "Device=c:\(path)\FDCD.SYS /D:IBMCD001" under the remarked IBMCDROM.SYS.
After any changes have been made to config.sys or autoexec.bat the system must be rebooted before these changes will take effect.
