IBM PC300GL - Unable to configure Adaptec AHA-1542CF SCSI adapter

SYMPTOM:
After installing the adapter and restarting Windows 95, the adapter is shown as disabled (Red X) in Device Manager.
Subsequent restarts of Windows 95 do not remove the disabled status from the adapter.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
This tip applies to the IBM PC300GL, Machine Types 6561/6591, preloaded with Windows 95.
FIX:
ISA Legacy Resources must be reserved in system BIOS.
1. Remove the adapter from Device Manager and restart Windows 95.
2. Double click the Add New Hardware icon in Control Panel and indicate that you DO NOT want Windows to search for new devices.
3. Click the "Have Disk" button, and insert the device driver diskette provided by the manufacturer.
4. After the device drivers have finished loading, shut down Windows 95 and power off the system.
1. Power on the system and press <F1> when prompted to run Setup.
2. In ISA Legacy Resources, reserve the following settings:
