Aptiva - How to move the OS/2 swapfile to a different partition

Applicable to: World-Wide

1. Double click on the OS/2 System Icon.
2. Double click on the Productivity Icon.

3. Double click on the OS/2 System Editor Icon.

4. Click on File then Open.

5. Double click on the icon to the left of C: to make sure you are looking in the root directory.

6. Double click on the file "Config.sys" in the right-hand window. You may need to scroll down to see it.

7. This will put the Config.sys in the editor. Click on Edit then Find, and type "Swappath" then press "Enter". NOTE: do not type the "".

8. The drive letter of the swap file will be listed on this line, i.e. Swappath=D:\ 4069 40069. Change the drive letter (in this example it is D) to the letter of the partition or drive you wish to move the swap file to.

Note: The nubers "4069 40069" are sample swap file sizes. It's usually a good idea to change only the drive letter and leave the swap file size at its default.

9. Click on File, then Save. You will have to reboot the machine for the changes to take effect.
