TP 765D/L - LCD Information Panel and Fan
Applicable to: World-Wide
LCD Information Panel Checkout
If an LCD information panel problem occurs, do the following:

1. |
Power off the computer. |
|
2. |
Power on the computer. |
|
3. |
All the icons in the LCD information panel appear for a moment soon after the computer is powered on. Verify that all icons appear correctly. |
Fan Checkout
To check the fan, do the following:
|
1. |
Turn off the computer. |
|
2. |
Remove the following FRUs (see -- FRU Removals and Replacements --): |
|
a. |
Diskette drive/CD-ROM drive |
|
b. |
Battery pack |
|
c. |
Hard disk drive |
|
d. |
Top cover |
|
e. |
Keyboard unit |
|
3. |
Attach the AC Adapter to the computer. |
|
4. |
Applying a short across the two pads with a screw driver as shown below, turn on the computer. |

5. |
Listen for the fan. If the fan does not run, replace it |
