TP General - How to disable the Trackpoint on ThinkPads

This document contains information on how to disable the TrackPoint on your ThinkPad.

ThinkPad 340,355,360,750,755:
1. Turn off the ThinkPad.
2. Hold F1 (keep it down) and turn the ThinkPad on.
3. Easy Setup will appear (you can let go of F1.)
4. Click on CONFIG.
5. Click on KEYBOARD.
6. Click on DISABLE, this disables the Trackpoint.

ThinkPad 365X/XD,380,385,560,760,765,770:
(System 365 specific models are: 1E9, 2E9, 2R9, 3E9, 3R9, 4E9, 4R9, 6E3, 6E7, 6R3, 7E7, DEE, DEF, EEF, ERF, FE9, FR9, GE9, GR9)
There are two ways to disable the TrackPoint.

Method 1:
1. Turn on the ThinkPad and start Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, or OS/2 Warp.
2. Open the ThinkPad group.
3. a).Open ThinkPad Features
b). Open ThinkPad Configuration for TP 770.
4. Click once on the Keyboard icon.
5. Click on Disable next to TrackPoint.

Method 2:
1. Turn on the ThinkPad and start Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, or OS/2 Warp.
2. Open a DOS Prompt.

For Windows 3.1x:
a. Double click on the Main group icon.
b. Double click on the DOS Prompt icon.

For Windows 95:
a. Click on Start.
b. Click on Programs.
c. Click on MS DOS Prompt.

For OS/2 Warp:
a. Double click on OS/2 System group icon.
b. Double click on Command Prompts icon.
c. Double click on OS/2 Window.

3. Type CD\ThinkPad.
4. Type PS2 TPO D.

ThinkPad 365C,365CS,365CSD,365CD,365E,365ED:
(Specific models are: 203, 205, 305, R6A, A05, B05, R6G,W11, W12, W13, W14, W15, W9A, W9G)
1. Turn on the ThinkPad and start Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, or OS/2 Warp.
2. Open a DOS Prompt.

For Windows 3.1X:
a. Double click on the Main group icon.
b. Double click on the DOS Prompt icon.

For Windows 95:
a. Click on Start.
b. Click on Programs.
c. Click on MS DOS Prompt.

For OS/2 Warp:
a. Double click on OS/2 System group icon.
b. Double click on Command Prompts icon.
c. Double click on OS/2 Window.

3. Press Ctrl+Alt+F11 at the same time.
4. You should now be in the Phoenix Configuration Screens.
5. Use the up/down arrows to highlight IPD (Internal Pointing Device.)
6. Press the spacebar until you see the IPD setting change to disable.
7. Press ESC to bring up the Menu.
8. Press the F4 key to Save and Restart (your system will reboot.)

ThinkPad 701:
1. Turn on ThinkPad and allow to completely boot.
2. Press Fn+F1 (This will bring up the configuration utility.)
3. Pg Dn until the I/O Management Screen.
4. Locate the TrackPoint III entry.
5. Use arrows keys to select to OFF.

Note: This document applies to specific models of the 365 series.
