Applicable to: World-Wide

Symptom:
PC Card (PCMCIA) Modems work and connect fine - but no dial tone is heard when trying to make a connection.
All other sounds work fine in Windows 95.

Solution:
First Verify that the modem volume is turned up. To check this do the following:
1. Go to My Computer and then Control Panel
2. Choose Modems
3. Select the modem that you are trying to configure and click on the Properties button.
4. Verify that the speaker volume is set all the way to the right.

Second, verify that PC Card Sound Effects are enabled. To do this do the following:
1. Go to My Computer and then Control Panel
2. Choose PC CARD (PCMCIA)
3. Choose the Global Settings tab
4. Verify that there is no check mark on the DISABLE PC CARD SOUND EFFECTS setting. (If this setting is changed, you must reboot before the change will take effect.
