Aptiva - 2134/2144/2168/2176 Disabling V.42 compression on the Mwave modem

Question:
How do I disable the V42 compression of my Aptiva Mwave modem Windows 95?

Answer:
If you should have difficulty using applications such as IBM Internet Phone you can try disabling V.42 compression.

1. Click on "START" and "SETTINGS" and select "CONTROL PANEL".
2. Double-click on "MODEMS".
3. Make sure the "MWAVE" is highlighted and select "PROPERTIES".
4. Click on the "CONNECTION" tab at the top of the new window.
5. Click on the "ADVANCED" button.
6. Now, remove the checkmark from "Compress Data".
7. Click "OK" and close all windows.
