Applicable to: World-Wide
Question:
How to install a 760 HDD in a ThinkPad 770, 770E or 770ED?
Answer:
The ThinkPad 770 's Ultrabay II will support a second hard drive as well as a CD-ROM drive, DVD drive, a second battery, or a diskette drive.
In order to install a second hard drive in the Ultrabay II of the ThinkPad 770, you will first need to purchase the ThinkPad 770 Second Hard Disk Drive Adapter option (part number 11J8836).
To install the Second Hard Disk Drive Adapter (make sure that your ThinkPad 770 is turned off when installing the second hard disk):
1. Remove any devices currently in the Ultrabay II.
2. Open the ThinkPad 770 Second Hard Disk Drive Adapter option (part number 11J8836) and open the disk stopper by lifting the hinged handle and remove the disk stopper from the tray.
3. Install the 760/765 adapter component shipped with the option. (This spacer does not have a hinged handle, it simply snaps into place.)
4. Install the 760/765 hard disk into the hard disk tray by pushing down on the top of the drive near the handle.
5. Install the secondary hard disk drive adapter into the Ultrabay II and restart the computer.
