TP General - Suggested use of power off/on, suspend/resume operation

SYMPTOM:
Symptoms may include, but are not limited to the following:
Serial port will not initialize.
External floppy drive will not initialize.
CD-ROM will not initialize
CONFIGURATION:
All ThinkPad systems
SOLUTION:
You should wait 5 seconds after powering off the ThinkPad before powering the ThinkPad back on. You should also wait 5 seconds after putting the ThinkPad into suspend mode before resuming the system. If any of the above symptoms occur after powering down and then immediately powering back on or suspending and then immediately resuming do the following: Shut down the system. Wait at least five seconds. Restart the Thinkpad.
