Aptiva - How to run Advanced Diagnostics to test Crystal Audio

1. Insert Aptiva Diagnostics and Utilities CD-ROM into CD-ROM drive.

2. Click "Start", and then click "Shutdown", on the "Shutdown" window that opens; Click "Restart the Computer", and then click "Yes".

3. When system restarts, it will stop at a blue screen, "Aptiva Diagnostics and Utilities Menu", use the down arrow key to highlight selection 2 and press "Enter".

4. A welcome screen will appear. Press any key other than "Enter" to continue.

5. QAPlus/Pro will then analyze some hardware and stop at the "Main Menu" screen. Press Enter for "Diagnostics".

6. At the "Diagnostics Menu", arrow down to "Module Tests" and press Enter.

7. At the "Module Tests Menu", arrow down to "User Diags" and press Enter.

8. Testing will be performed and the "Crystal Diagnostics" screen will be shown with the completed test results.

9. At the bottom of the "Crystal Diagnostics" window, there are two buttons which present options to: 'Test 8-bit sound' and "Test FM sound". Press each of these buttons in turn to test the sound capabilities. Make sure your speakers are connected properly, turned on, and turned up before running these tests as successful completion is indicated by sound from the speakers.

10. Click "Exit" when completed. Hardware will again be analyzed, and the system will return to the QA Plus/Pro diagnostics program. Hit the "esc" key until you are back at the QA Plus/Pro main menu, and then use the arrow key to go down to "Exit", and press Enter.

11. Remove Diagnostic CD-ROM and shut off or restart computer.
