IBM 3153 ASCII Terminal Display - Initializing/configuring the 3153 setup via AS/400

The AS/400 ASCII Workstation Controller initializes many 3153 setup parameters. Items include:
Auto Wrap = Off
Return Key = New Line
Send Key = Page
Enter Key = Send
Insert Character = Space
New Line = <CR>
Recv <CR> = <CR>
Turnaround Character = <ETX>
The following item describes how the user can modify the 3153 setup string/command that is sent via the AS/400 ASCII
ASCII Workstation Controller. This procedure allows the user to set/initialize the 3153.
Items that the user may want to set/initialize are:
- Function Keys (unused F25 to F36). The AS/400 requires 24 Function Keys and the 3153 provides 36 Function keys. The unused Function keys could set to user productivity or preference items.
- Cursor style (steady/blinking block/line)
Steps:
1. Type the command RTVWSCST, and prompt
- Device type 3151
- Keyboard Lang USB
- name IBMTEST
- press enter, take defaults
2. Type the command STRSEU, and prompt
- file QTXTSRC
- lib QGPL
- member IBMTEST
- take defaults for the rest
While in SEU, you need to make the following changes:
a. find the tag :SETUP, and change the associated data from DATA = '1B283A1B293A1B2139272F621B213920' to DATA = ' what ever hex data you want to send 'X. ** make sure to terminate it with the X and period (.) ***
** Use the 3151/3153 Programmers Reference Manuals to determine the correct IBM commands. Save the changed member.
3. Type in the command CRTWSCST and prompt WSCST name - IBMTEST. Take defaults for the rest (creating the source table may take a while.)
4. Create the device description for the 3153 using this user customized table by filling in the needed stuff, then pressing F10 for additional parameters, and adding Workstation Customizing object - IBMTEST. Take the rest of the defaults, and create the device.
When you vary on the 3153, the string that you placed in the :SETUP tag will be sent to the 3153.
