Aptiva - 2139 - Some DVD movies only show up as a black screen

Symptom:
Some of DVD movies only show a black screen when played on the 2139 model Aptiva.
Solution:
DVD's of a certain type are unsupported by the default Windows 98 DVD navigator. The version of Windows 98 that was preinstalled on these systems contains DirectX Media 5.2a. Microsoft offers a downloadable upgrade to DirectX Media 6.0 that may correct the problem. Use Windows Update on your Start Menu to find this upgrade.
Note: Some movies still may not play correctly with the upgraded software due to various types of MPEG encoding.
DVD decoding is also subject to regional encryption methods. i.e a region 4 DVD will not play on a machine built for region 1.
