TP 701 - Auto 16/4 Token Ring PCMCIA Card Not Ready in DOS
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
The IBM auto 16/4 PCMCIA token ring card shows not ready in ThinkPad 701 and the network (e.g. MS LAN Manager) can't be used.
CONFIGURATION:
Any ThinkPad 701 running DOS/Windows using the IBM Auto 16/4 PCMCIA Token Ring adapter.
SOLUTION:
Change the 2 lines in the config.sys as follows:
:
device=emm386.exe X=d800-dfff
:
:
device=c:\thinkpad\dicrmu01.sys /MA=D800-DFFF /SH=1
:
Note:
- Generally, the MMIO and RAM memory range in the protocol.ini does not need to be set (i.e. They are auto configured).
- If you set the MMIO and RAM memory range, they should be within the /MA memory range (ie. MMIO=D800 & RAM=DC00 in the protocol.ini if /MA=D800-DFFF is in the config.sys)
