Aptiva - Multiple copies of AUTOEXEC.BAT on hard disk

Question:
Why do I have files called AUTOEXEC.1, 2, BAK, etc., on my hard disk?
Answer:
These files are created as backups when you install software on a hard disk that already has an AUTOEXEC.BAT file present. Although you need to keep the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, you can erase the files named AUTOEXEC.1, AUTOEXEC.2, etc.
If you wish to keep one of these files for backup purposes, you should keep the one with the most recent date.
