Crossbrand - What does the plastic tab in the lower corner of my diskette do?
Applicable to: World-Wide
This tab is a Write Protect tab, and when open, it prevents data from being written to the diskette. When the tab is moved so that the little window is closed, you can save, delete or change files on that diskette. This feature allows you to protect important programs and data from being accidentally erased. If a diskette is write protected it allows you to read data from the diskette, but nothing can be written back to the diskette.
