Aptiva - Issues with the Aptiva Installer

You cannot uninstall or reinstall the preloaded or bundled Microsoft programs using the Aptiva Installer due to legal contracts with Microsoft. This includes "Creative Writer", "Plus Pack", "Works", and "Windows 95". To reinstall any of these, you must do a full recovery.
If you are installing a non-bundled DOS program, the you may not recognize the program as installed because the DOS install program did not add any icons or groups to the start menu.
If a program does NOT install anything to the hard disk except for creating a shortcut, the installer will show that program as installed when the CD is in the CD drive, and show it as uninstalled if the CD is NOT in the CD drive. This is because the program executable and all needed files reside on the CD.
