SCSI Adapters - Various problems and solutions

Applicable to: World-Wide

Problem:
SCSI devices are not seen when attached to the IBM 16-bit AT Fast SCSI Adapter and the adapter BIOS fails to load.
Problem Isolation Aids:
The SCSI adapter is a IBM 16-bit AT Fast SCSI adapter, Plug and Play, (Marketing Part number 06H9649, FRU Part number 07H0511) and the SCSI devices connected to the adapter are not seen
Solution:
1. Power off system
2. Re-seat the adapter
3. Reseat all existing SCSI cable connections.
4. If the above steps do not resolve the problem, replace the SCSI cable with SCSI cable FRU part number 71G2558.

Note:
1. Make certain that an internal SCSI device can be jumpered to provide termination or install the In-line Active Terminator (FRU Part number 61G2448).
2. The original SCSI cable that shipped with the AT adapter was manufactured with a "built-in" terminator which cannot be removed. If a SCSI cable is needed for the 16bit PNP SCSI Adapter (Marketing Part number 06H9649), use the cable identified by FRU Part number 71G2558 (3yr warranty) and FRU Part number 61G2448 (1yr warranty).

Problem:
Cannot get the OBI PCMCIA SCSI-2 adapter (Marketing part number 92G8171, FRU part number 92G8171) to work under windows 95.
Solution:
The adapter is listed as compatible with Windows 95 but is not officially supported under Windows 95. To configure the adapter:
Click on the My Computer icon.
Click on the Control Panel icon.
Click on the Add New Hardware icon.
Click Next.
Click No when prompted to search for new hardware.
Choose SCSI Controllers and click Next.
Choose Future Domain Corporation for the Manufacturer and Early Future Domain PCMCIA SCSI HOST Adapter for the Model.
Click on Next and follow the instructions until the installation is complete.

In conjunction to this make sure that the card is being seen correctly (by going into PCMCIA under the Control Panel) to verify that card and socket services are installed and functioning.
