Aptiva - 2162-D81 Microphone doesn't work

Situation:
The customer is unable to use the microphone when using the telephone.
Symptoms:
1. Able to record with microphone as a wave file and play it back. Thus microphone and cables are OK.
2. Reloaded Application. Thus code corruption is not the problem.
3. The diagnostics on the system passed using the blue disk,
4. There is a connector between the modem card and the sound card which is the video connector, the cable has three little wires: red, white and black. The FRU of this cable is 76H1762 and not 10H2856
Solution:
The connector between the modem and the sound card (described above) may be miswired or incorrectly plugged.
