Aptiva - 2144 MPEG re-install disabled clipart in Microsoft Works 3.0

Question:
I have an Aptiva 2144 running Microsoft Windows 3.1 and I installed the MPEG software from the disk that came with the machine. Now I cannot insert clipart in Microsoft Works 3.0?

Answer:
1. From the Program Manager, click on "FILE" and choose "RUN".
2. Type WIN.INI on the command line and press "ENTER".
3. Find the line [MS Graphic Import Filters]
The lines following the above line should be like these. If they are different please make any appropriate changes.



Windows Metafile (.WMF)=C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\GRPHFLT\wmfimp.flt,WMF 

Computer Graphics Metafile(.CGM)=C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\GRPHFLT\cgmimp.flt,CGM 

PC Paintbrush(.PCX)=C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\GRPHFLT\pcximp.flt,PCX 

Tagged Image Format(.TIF)=C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\GRPHFLT\tiffimp.flt,TIF

4. After you have corrected these lines, click on "FILE" and choose "SAVE". Click on "FILE" and choose "EXIT".
5. At the Program Manager, click on "FILE" and choose "EXIT WINDOWS". Restart Windows and then try inserting
clipart into MS Works 3.0 again.
