IBM PC - CD ROM drives cause 1762/162 errors
Applicable to: World-Wide
Certain models and manufacturers of CD-ROM drives may cause 1762 and/or 162 errors in many models of PC300 or PC700. This is due to the drive not meeting the proper ATAPI specs. Bypassing the error codes will allow the drives to function normally until the next boot, when the error codes will reappear. BIOS levels have been released to allow the machines to function without errors. They are listed below.
6577 / 6587: LVJT21A or higher To obtain the latest Level, DoubleClick here : -

6560: LXJT20A or higher To obtain the latest Level, DoubleClick here : -
