Hard Drives - Adaptec extended BIOS translation

The translation option found in the Adaptec BIOS is enabled by default from the IBM factory and should be left enabled regardless of the operating system you intend to load on the SCSI drive.
If the SCSI drive was partitioned when the setting was disabled and you are changing the setting to enable, a low-level format is necessary for all attached SCSI drives. If the SCSI drive was partitioned when the setting was enabled and you switch it to disabled, all partitions on all attached SCSI drives must be re-created.
