Applicable to: World-Wide
If you would like to be able to access a specific program from your Windows 95 or 98 desktop please do the following:
1. Install the application (if this has already been installed, go on to #2).
2. Go to Start -> Programs -> Windows Explorer. Click once with the left mouse button.
3. Find the installed application's directory name in the directory tree (left-hand side of screen, it is titled ALL FOLDERS or search for it on the right-hand side of the screen titled CONTENTS). Double-click on the directory's folder.
4. On the right-hand side of the screen (CONTENTS) find the executable file's name. Drag the executable's icon onto the desktop (by holding down the right mouse button).
5. Release the right mouse button when you have the icon over a clear spot on the desktop.
6. From the pop-up menu, choose CREATE SHORTCUT HERE.
You are now done. To activate the application, simply double-click on the application's icon located on the desktop.
