Aptiva - 2144/2168 (SL-H) Adding a second hard drive causes CD-ROM programs to fail
Applicable to: World-Wide
Symptom:
I added a second hard drive to my Aptiva Mxx and now my CD-ROM programs no longer work.
Solution:
When the Aptiva Mxx software was loaded on the hard drive by IBM, the CD-ROM was configured as drive D:. All of the CD-ROM programs are set up to look for the CD-ROM on drive D. If you add a second hard drive to your system, or partition the existing hard drive, the CD-ROM drive will be assigned a new drive letter. This will cause the CD-ROM programs to no longer work.
Edit the filepath for your Icons to include the new drive letter of the CD, or create new groups and icons.
Another option would be to reinstall the applicable software so that the software would then point to the correct drive letter
