Aptiva - RETAIN TIP - Production Change - Hard drive

Abstract:
This is not a spec. change, but the manufacturing content of the models below has had a second source of 12.0GB Hard Disk Drive qualified. However, the physical size of the new drive is different, a 3.5" width instead of the original 5.25" width, each of which takes a different screw fitting.
Symptom:
The Hard Disk Drive in the FRU may have different dimensions from the original drive, resulting in some difficulty in fitting the FRU drive.
The following models can be affected:
2139-E55
2139-E56
2139-E57
2139-E5Z
Problem Isolation Aids:
FRU's for each size of Hard Disk Drive will be made available and included on the SPL, although long-term stock will not necessarily be available.
With utilization of the correct Screw Kit FRU, the drives will effectively be interchangeable.
Until the new 5.25" HDD FRU is available, the SPL has been updated to prompt the 3.5" HDD FRU and appropriate Screw Kit p/n's.
The second FRU p/n will be added to the SPL and the on-line HMM will be updated, but the manual will not be reprinted to reflect.
Fix:
The correct HDD FRU should be selected, if known.
Otherwise, an appropriate Screw Kit FRU should be selected, to avoid the need for a return visit to a customer's location.

Maxtor For 3.5" bay 36L9128 01K4260
If Aptiva has 5.25" HDD p/n 56.02A21.001 then use FRU p/n 20L2165 if available, or 36L9128 & Screw Kit 01K4260 if not,
If Aptiva has 3.5" HDD p/n 56.02A81.011 then use FRU p/n 36L9128 if available, or 20L2165 & Screw Kit 01K4259 if not.
