TP General - Running diagnostics on the hard drive

Applicable to: World-Wide

To run diagnostics on the hard drive for your ThinkPad do the following:
TP 355, 360, 365X/XD, 380 (all), 385 (all), 560 (all), 600, 701, 750, 755, 760, 765, and 770 (all).

1. Make sure the ThinkPad is turned off.
2. Press and hold the F1 key while you power on the ThinkPad.
3. At the EZSetup screen click on the icon labelled Test.
4. At the Test menu click on HDD-1 to test the hard drive installed in the ThinkPad. If you have a hard drive installed in the UltraBay of the ThinkPad (for those ThinkPads that have an UltraBay you will want to click on HDD-2.
5. If the hard drive passes, it will return to the Test screen with an OK underneath the hard drive icon. If it fails, it will list error codes beneath the icon.
