TP 760E/ED/EL/ELD - How can I upgrade my system memory to 104 MB?
Applicable to: World-Wide
SYMPTOM:
How do I upgrade my total system memory to 104 MB?
SOLUTION:
The ThinkPad 760E, ED EL and ELD support a maximum of 80 MB of memory with the supplied IBM DIMM adapter.
This maximum would be achieved by using 2 32MB Dimm chips.
8 MB on the system board +
8 MB on the DIMM Adapter + (Note: some systems ship with no memory on the DIMM adapter. The maximum memory with this adapter is 72 MB.)
32 MB DIMM Chip in Slot 1 +
32 MB DIMM Chip in Slot 2 = 80 MB
Note: The ThinkPad 760E, ED, EL and ELD do not support 64 MB DIMM Chips.
To reach 104 MB of total system memory a special DIMM adapter must be purchased from Apricorn (An IBM ThinkPad Proven Company). This adapter has 32 MB of memory built on the adapter. More information about this product can be obtained at http://www.apricorn.com.
