Aptiva - How can I stop an inactive application in OS/2?
Applicable to: World-Wide
OS/2 allows you to start applications upon boot up by placing them in the startup folder, the startup.cmd file or the config.sys file. If one of these applications malfunctions and forces you to reboot, the application will start up again. If the problem has not been resolved, you will find yourself in a loop.
You can prevent applications from starting on boot up with a series of keystrokes. After you reboot (Ctrl+Alt+Delete), look for the Work Place Shell background. It will appear after you see the OS/2 LOGO.
When the background appears, hold down the Left CTRL + Left SHIFT + F1 keys.
Continue to hold down all three keys until the icons start to appear on the screen. This will clear out any suspended processes, including applications.
