Applicable to: World-Wide
Question:
I have an Aptiva 2176-C6V with Microsoft Phone. How can I set it up to receive faxes?
Answer:
The Aptiva 2176-C6V has a communications application for faxing called Microsoft Phone. You can configure Microsoft
Phone to receive faxes by following these steps:
1. Open Microsoft Phone by clicking on "Start", selecting "Programs", then "Aptiva Productivity", then "Aptiva Communications", and then select "Microsoft Phone".
2. On menu bar, click on "TOOLS" and select "CONNECT USING...".
3. Choose Modem Voice and Fax Line".
4. Click on the "Fax Properties" button on same screen. This will bring up the message: 'MS Fax is currently not configured to answer fax calls. This will prevent MS Phone from saving incoming faxes. Do you want to change this setting now?'. Answer "YES".
5. The default setting is to NOT receive faxes until it is set up. Simply click on the "Answer after 'x' rings" option at upper left. Now click "OK".
6. You will notice the FAX icon appears in the bottom right next to the phone on the taskbar. You can now receive faxes.
