Aptiva - 2144/2168 Reinstall of Mwave MIDI samples on Windows 95 systems

The following procedure will allow reinstallation of Mwave MIDI sample on Aptivas with the following model types Mxx and Axx where xx can be any characters. These models should also be using the Windows 95 operating system:
With a Mxx or Axx Series Aptiva no option is given to selectively uninstall the MIDI samples. Therefore the MIDI files are installed on top of the existing files. Removing the device drivers from the device manager under system properties does not remove the actual device drivers.
You can reinstall the device drivers using the update driver diskettes extracted from the following files : MWMIDI01.EXE, MWMIDI02.EXE, MWMIDI03.EXE.
These required files may be downloaded from the IBM Bulletin Board, (919) 517-0001 or from the IBM Web site; http://www.pc.ibm.com/support. After downloading the files to your hard drive, run each file to expand files to a floppy diskette. Read the README.TXT file on any of the diskettes to verify that the proper files were downloaded and check for any updates to these directions. If upgrading MIDI Samples, you should also install the updated Mwave files for Windows and DOS.
With the MWMIDI01 diskette in the "A" drive, select the "Start" button and then SELECT "Run." The "Run" dialog box will appear. Enter "A:\setup" (without the quotation marks). SELECT "OK."
The Mwave setup program should then display a blue background on the screen, and prompt you for the desired location of the MIDI Samples; "C:\MWAVE\SAMPLES\MIDIMED." SELECT "OK."
When prompted with, "Do you want your Windows Mwave MIDI Synthesizer to use this set of MIDI-Samples?" SELECT "Yes." Some files decompress, then you are prompted with a similar screen about the DOS Mwave MIDI-Synthesizer. SELECT "Yes" again. The installation should
then prompt you for disk "2" and "3." (MWMIDI02, MWMIDI03). When needed, insert the diskettes and SELECT "OK".
When the procedure is complete, the installation program should ask you to remove the diskettes and to RESTART your system. Remove diskette and SELECT "OK". The system must be restarted for the changes to take effect.
NOTE: The samples are not songs (*.MID files). If a particular song or songs will not play, try another song. To restore the default *.MID songs, you must reinstall the Mwave Windows files using MWWIN01, MWWIN02, MWWIN03.
